Well, particularly if you live in a climate where the weather can be quite unpredictable and rain a lot, it can really spoil your BBQ plans. Logs

In respect of a log barbeque hut specifically, the situation is a little different to most log applications. For a start you are actually sitting around a BBQ which is a good source of heat. The logs need to still be good quality, but the necessity for thicker logs is not so great (as you will only use it when you are barbequeing and therefore it should be reasonably warm inside). Even if it was bitterly cold outside, your friends still wouldn’t mind putting a coat on if necessary.
Design
Most log barbeque hut designs are based around a circular theme, although often in practice this may mean an octagon or hexagon. This is because using curved timber is very expensive and therefore would increase the overall cost too much. The circular theme is also very nice socially, as no one is left out and everyone is an equal distance from each other. This provides the best layout for chatting and also means that everyone is close to the BBQ itself.
The roof is normally of a fairly steep pitch, which allows the chimney to be a good height and take the smoke created well away from the occupants. This also gives a very airy feel to the inside, which as a smaller enclosed space is important. The overall sizes do vary, but by and large a log BBQ hut is a compact and cosy affair. An intimate, warm and relaxing atmosphere will be the key ingredients for some wonderful evenings in a BBQ hut.
Other considerations
How much glass do you need in your BBQ hut? The answer to this could depend on your location, surrounding aspect and when you intend to use it. Windows will provide some natural light during daylight hours, which is nice, but in darker times of the year they have little benefit. If you have a lovely view out then in times when you have good light, this allows you to benefit from this whilst sitting on the inside. Windows can help to regulate temperature (if they can open), so if you use your BBQ hut in warmer times of the year, this could be a good option. Also remember that glazing can be used in the door as well.
Do you need electricity? Well this depends on what you plan to have in your log BBQ hut. If you want to run a fridge, some lights and have a power point for running other appliances, then yes electricity will be needed. However with the use of gas lamps, cool boxes and being within close proximity to the house, the cost of installing electrics can be avoided. At any rate it is something which could be retrofitted later, should you find you cannot manage without it.
